PTS and Instruction for All Students

This document cross-references The New York City Professional Teaching Standards (PTS) and Instruction for All Students by Paula Rutherford (FAMIS# 642017328). It provides school administrators, professional developers, mentors, and teachers easy access to an array of research-based best practices aligned with the standards.

To use this tool, identify the focus standard and key element(s) to be addressed. Locate that standard and key element in the document. Beside it you will find page references to the pages in Instruction for All Students that provide guidance and direction for work on that component of professional practice.

This tool helps school administrators, professional developers, mentors and teachers:

• Develop professional growth plans
• Identify areas of focus for individual or group study
• Provide suggestions following walk-throughs or formal observations
• Build background knowledge and skillfulness
• Ensure cognitive connections between the text and the PTS

Additionally, the tools and templates found on the CD-ROM at the back of Instruction for All Students can be duplicated and used in the planning and delivery of instruction.
